JCCS Academic Language Assessment Week 17

The benefits of importing Chinese goods do outweigh the consequences. For example, If we bought shoes made in the U.S.A., they would be less money. In addition, we would be helping the low economy that we are going through. Also, if we bought shoes made in China or Japan, the shoes would cost more and the people who worked on the shoes would get paid only like 5 dollars out of 40 dollars.

"The Gift of the Magi" Irony

In "The Gift of the Magi," O. Henry uses irony to make the story realistic. For example, Jim sold his watch to buy Della combs. This shows that this is ironic becuase Della sold her hair so she could get Jim a silver watch chain. This is realistic because in real life people sometimes do things for others but doesn't always work out the way they want it to.  In addition, Della sold her hair so she could buy Jim a silver watch chain. This shows that this is ironic because Jim sold his watch so he could get her combs. This also shows irony because now Jim and Della dont know what to do with each others presents. In conclusion, not everything people plan goes the way they want it to go. 

JCCS Academic Language Assessment Week 15

Cell phones are not safe to use while driving because there have been to much accidents over the past few years. For example, many drivers could RELATE to those who also have been in an accident, but is not fun talking about it because it was not a fun experience. In addition, the CONCEPT in which useing a cell phone while driving is not something everyone can avoid because there could be drunk drivers or other fools in the world. Also, people ASSESS many other people when they hit each others cars by not paying attention or by mistake. That is way I think you should not use a cell phone while driving.

JCCS Academic Language Assessment Week 10

Women should/shouldn't be able to register for Selective Service, I think they shouldn't. They shouldn't because they are the ones who produce and take care of babies. Also because if they were to go to the army, the next war they'd have, they might not have such a big population to send men and have very little amount of people go fight the war. Women are the ones who probably help the population grow once in a while so they could be prepared for the next war that is to happen. That is why I think women shouldn't be able to register for Selective Service

JCCS Academic Language Assessment Week 5

Children should be required to get vaccinated because without it, people could be dying.If children didn't get vaccinated there could be a domino affect on many people and families.It wouldn't be a POSITIVE thing of course.Also, parents should ILLUSTRATE to other parents to get vaccinations for their children.I would ESTIMATE there being more sick children than vaccinated children if parents didn't get their children vaccinated.Therefore, that is why I think parents should get their children vaccinated.

JCCS Academic Language Assessment Week 3

Parents should not regulate thier teen's diet to prevent obesity.  Parents shouldn't care much about there childs diet, but at least the children will care alittle because first they will APPRITIATE them for maybe excersicing at their own time, but will also CONSIST of there health. There is also a time they will think they are out of shape and will FOCUS on going on a diet or to excersice more.  In conclusion, parents should let their children decide what they want to do.
